An ottoman solution for the modern pet owner.
It’s like “Bring Your Pet to Work” day, every day! In collaboration with an emerging lifestyle brand, I led the development of a hybrid pet-furniture solution designed for the modern remote worker. My role encompassed the entire lifecycle - from translating early human-pet interaction studies into CAD models to managing the logistical hurdles of overseas manufacturing.
Key Tasks
Full-Cycle Design: Directed the project from conceptual sketching to technical CAD engineering.
Prototyping & Validation: Iterated physical models to optimize ramp stability, incline, and pet safety.
Strategic Sourcing: Curated premium, durable materials including textured upholstery and light-wood accents.
Global Manufacturing: Managed overseas production, quality control, and logistics for a retail-ready launch.
The Solution
The resulting ottoman offers a sophisticated solution for the modern pet owner. It features a hidden, fold-out ramp with a high-traction fabric surface, allowing older or smaller dogs safe access to elevated surfaces. When not in use, the ramp tucks away to maintain the silhouette of a minimalist, contemporary ottoman.
